Moments & Whatnauts

**WARNING**

I must prepare you at this point that you are about to see some beautiful images of women. Then again you should expect this as the shots were taken in Wales!

Well after being unwell for the last few weeks it was nice to get out shooting again. My first day of Spring shooting. The sun was shining and people had smiles on their faces.

At first glance I thought I was seeing Sandra Bullock when I saw the following woman. I got a few shots, and thought this was the best as she swings her head and her hair and earing follows.

Some girls have an instant beauty, they don’t even need to smile. Imagine how her face would really shine with a smile.

The sunlight was very harsh, but really brightened this womans face. I think she was wondering why I was taking her photograph. She must know that when she looks in the mirror.

Colour? I sometimes find that B&W can detract from what you see, and this girls beautiful red hair is one of those times.

This woman had such a big smile and was laughing aloud when she saw her friend. Boy was that smile infectious.

Too many men, especially youngsters seem to dismiss beauty in mature women, and by that I don’t mean Senior Citizens, but women who have passed the flower of youth and have really blossomed. There is a beauty that cannot be described, it comes from within.

I had to crop a lot of this shot, as I had to pick her out at a distance with others facing her with their backs to me, but I felt her beauty was striking, even with such harsh sunlight hitting her face.

Sometimes you have to get the shot and damn having to crop so much, as opposed to not getting it at all.

You may have noticed that I am writing a lot about this shot and that is to fill up this space as I have put the shot to the left, and it will give good composition.

Sometimes you really hit it lucky. Someone walks into a shot and you react quickly and get the focus and Wow! That is what happened with the following shot. That big smile, the reflection in the sunglasses and a spot on focus, you couldn’t ask for more, and it really is a Wow!

The sun was dropping very quickly and so many people were either shielding their eyes or looking down. Then a group of women dressed as older people, maybe a Hen Night, came towards me. They were full of smiles and the sun was directly behind me and brought out this womans’ stunning eyes. Truly beautiful, even with the old ladies wig!

You may be wondering what the title has to do with the post. I found myself singing, and asked Martin if he remembered the song and of course he did. Older readers will remember the song “Girls” by The Moments & The Whatnauts. I was a teenager when this was released in the UK, way back in 1975, and is a song that often comes to mind. The way I hear it is to see the beauty of all women, and not to look just skin deep. If you’d like to hear it you can find it HERE.

  1. A long break definitely has not affected your ability to get some great shots. I can’t even pick a favorite (which isn’t unusual) because they are all so stunning.

I think you made a good choice in not making the shot of the redhead black and white. Her hair is far too vibrant, with a smile to match, to put in black and white. I also like the cropped shot of the woman in “Beautiful”. Her hairstyle reminds me of Audrey Hepburn and cropping the image to just show her gives her a sexy, smoldering look, particularly because she isn’t looking at the camera.

  2. What a great gallery of portraits and a sweet tribute to women ! Good choice for the women’s day.
I love the “big smile” for the reasons you explain, just wow !
you seems to be completely healed now !

    • Esther, I know that you know that feeling when you are on the street with the camera, and it felt so good to be back there.
