Flo the Hypnotist

I first saw Florian on Rue Roschach, which is next to the Donjon du Capitole in the centre of Toulouse, France.

He was encouraging people to become subjects for himself and his friends, for Florian is a Hypnotist.

He was with a group of other Hypnotists and they were hypnotising willing members of the public. It was surprising how people offered themselves up to join in. The street was full of people being hypnotised, people watching and others just passing. There was so much to take in, as I had never seen anything like this before.

I next noticed Florian laughing as a girl ran around her friend in hysterical laughter. I don’t know what he had done and you can see exactly the same scene as I saw.

I next saw him doing hypnosis on another gullible willing person. He was talking very softly to her. I couldn’t hear what he was saying, and it didn’t matter anyway as I wouldn’t have understood him as he was talking in French.

I don’t think this was hypnosis though, more of the power of the mind, but hey, what do I know. He got the girl to put her fingers together and what you can see him doing is pretending to tighten up a nut and bolt through her fingers so it keeps them closed together. When he stopped doing it she couldn’t separate her fingers. She was like that for a short while, and then he seemed to apologise, and undo the pretend nut and bolt slightly, and she separated her fingers. She and her friends were stunned.

Florian then approached me and questioned me saying he had seen me taking shots. I thought “here we go again, get ready to explain.” Instead he asked if he could have some copies. I said of course. I then asked him if he would join my “100 Strangers Project”, which I explained to him and he was really willing. So I got a couple of posed shots from him, one of which you can see at the top of the post.

He explained that he is from Toulouse, and it is a sort of club that he belongs to and they meet every Saturday in the same place. I asked him how long he would be there for and he said he was waiting for his girlfriend to arrive. I couldn’t help but say to him that I bet she didn’t like him at first, but he hypnotised her into liking him, which he obviously denied. I just wish I had been there when she turned up. I would have asked her. He is a really nice guy with a good command of English, luckily for me, as my French is nowhere near as good. He makes people smile and laugh, and I think anybody that can do that whilst smiling themselves is good news. Showing what a joker he is, this was the second posed shot of him I got.

I would like to thank you Florian for becoming my 16th Stranger in my 100 Strangers Project. I would also like to point out that I didn’t promise you that you would be a star if you agreed, as you suggested in your comment on this post. You are a star anyway. You make people happy and that makes you a star in my book.

If you would like to see more of what Florian does, take a look at his Facebook Page and give him a like.

  1. I really liked “Making People Laugh” because it always brings a smile to a person’s face watching other people genuinely enjoying themselves. I also really like your card. It is definitely eye catching.

  2. A good subject for your 100 strangers project. I like the laughing girl, and the big smile of Florian, in the corner of the picture.
He has a nice smile and your portrait gives the feeling of an open minded guy, which is obviously necessary when you try to hypnotise people ! the last one is great with your card, good advertising for him and for you 😉
