I think some of you may have thought this was a different post than it is when you read the title. The title actually relates to shots of women on their own as opposed to with others. I have purposely not converted them to B&W as it would have spoiled quite a lot. I do find that a lot of shots of woman as it is with flowers benefit from colour. I think it is different when photographing men or older women with character in their face. By character read lines of experience and knowledge.
The shots were taken over the 6 days we were in Amsterdam, and also in different places so the lighting played a big part. I have done no major editing to any of the shots, except, as with so much Street Photography the need to crop out people getting in the way. Personally I prefer the letterbox format of shots, so I try to get that format as opposed to the almost square that is standard, or as my diminishing eye sight sees it. So look through the shots, make a comment if you wish, but most of all enjoy the beauty that is woman.
As I shoot with prime lenses, it is not a case of turn the focus wheel to get that great composition. You have to see it in your head an in an instant get the shot. If you are lucky enough that the subject is in the same place for a while then you can move yourself to get the composition. This is why Street is so different to other types of photography, and a lot harder than it first looks, which you find when you start doing it. Add to that the candidness you are after, and it becomes a balancing act. But, when you get the shot, the smile grows wider.
All the shots were taken using my Nikon D7000, The first 7 shots are with the Nikkor 50mm 1.8d, and the rest are with the Nikkor 85mm 1.8d.
